With the Sixth and final Shahi Snan on the occasion of Maha Shivratri Kumbh Mela is concluding today. Crores of People are supposed to take holy dip in Sangam.
Five bathing festivals of the Kumbh have concluded successfully with more than 22 crore pilgrims taking a holy dip.
Kumbh 2019 promised and delivered to be a colourful experience for all. With coruscating light arrangements and the burning religious fervour, it became a beautiful memory for the huge mass of pilgrims.
This year, Kumbh 2019 was not just a spiritual experience but also a fusion of art, architecture and technology! VR headsets, which allowed its viewers to see ‘360-degree virtual reality’ videos were available in different stalls. With this, the users could see videos of snan or bath in rivers, aartis, ritualistic prayers and a lot more. In other words, they could virtually experience the real ceremonies!
Gates decorated with designs inspired from mythology and local culture welcomed the pilgrims. Thereby, adding an artistic and emotional touch to the architecture. For a comfortable stay, tents and sign boards were also installed.
Kumbh Mela 2019 started on 15th January. This religious gathering occurs at 4 times over the course of twelve years at four different places- Haridwar, Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Nashik or Ujjain.
This year the importance of Prayagraj added to the relevance of the religiosity of Kumbh. It is the site where Brahma,a prominent Hindu deity offered his first sacrifice after creating the universe. It is also a place of confluence of three holy rivers-Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Sarasvati. Thousands of pilgrims and ascetics take a dip in Sangam to absolve themselves of sins and receive moksha or salvation.
It is also believed that participating in Kumbh services and helping others in this journey saves one from sinful temptations and fulfils all desires. Thus, the Kumbh Mela is not merely a cohort of religious people. It is where one finds hope fuelled by belief in the divine. Pilgrims come in faith. They search for a larger purpose of life.
