Thar comes alive in desert festival

One thing that is intrinsically Indian is our love for celebrations!

It’s for this reason that the dry lands of Rajasthan are never dry. In the month of February, it is hosting the annual Jaisalmer Desert festival. In the backdrop of the robust Jaisalmer fort, there will be a rich display of its traditions, folk dance, music and creative arts. The mystic legends of snake charming and camel polo will flaunt the desert hues.

This festival is held annually in the Hindu month of Magh three days prior to the full moon. This year it will start from February 17 and the festivities will continue till 19th. It will begin from Gadisar Lake and the closing ceremony of the festival will be at Sam Sand Dunes.

Cultural Events, Camel Races, turban tying and best moustache competitions are some of the attractions which make this festival very unique. Amidst the Golden sands of Thar everything seems exotic. This festival showcases different facets of Rajasthan, the rich and colorful culture of the region. Final music performance of folk singers under the moonlit sky is something which can be preserved in the memory box lifetime.

This three day celebration will be welcoming thousands of Indian and Foreign tourists, 42 Km away from Jaisalmer at Sand dunes of Sam, when the desert will come alive by color, enthusiasm and happiness.
