NEW DELHI: Eight months before her Rajya Sabha term was to end, BSP chief Mayawati resigned from the House in an ostensible bid to regain her Dalit vote base that has seen progressive erosion in the 2014 Lok Sabha and recent Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

As soon as the Rajya Sabha met for the day on Tuesday, Mayawati was on her feet and demanded that she be given more time to speak on Dalit atrocities in UP in the recent weeks. Directing her attack at BJP, Mayawati said.
