No truth in Rahul Gandhi’s resignation: Surjewala

New Delhi Speculation on Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s resignation in on as minutes after reports of Rahul offering his resignation flashed across the media, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala clarified that there was no truth in the matter, and it was incorrect.

Earlier reports said that the Congress President offered to resign from the post owning moral responsibility of the party’s loss in 2019 general elections as soon as the party’s top decision-making body met.

CWC meet held in Delhi to discuss the reasons for the party’s abysmal performance in the elections.

CWC has 23 members of Congress, 16 of them contested in this Loksabha Election, however only four of them could manage to win. Those who won include Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Gaurav Gogoi and A Chella Kumar.

12 Senior Congress leaders faced defeat in general elections. Leaders like Sheila Dixit, Mallikarjun Kharge, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Meera Kumar, Raghuveer Singh Meena, Deepender Hooda, Sushmita Dev, K H Muniyappa and Arun Yadav could not save the face of Congress from humiliating loss.
