New Delhi। Narendrabhai Damodardas Modi, who led the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance to a spectacular victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections took oath as the Prime Minister.
President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy in Hindi to Modi at a ceremony attended by thousands of people at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
BJP President Amit Shah also took oath as member of the Narendra Modi Cabinet. Among who sworn in today are Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Sadanada Gowda, S Jaishankar, Ram Vilas Paswan, Narendra Singh Tomar, Harsimrat Kaur, Ravishankar Prasad, Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, Thawar Chand Gehlot, Arjun Munda, Smriti Irani, Prakash Javdekar, Piyush Goyal, Dr Jitendra Singh.
This is 4th time swearing-in being held in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan. The last three occasions were — Chandrashekhar in 1990, Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1998 and Narendra Modi in 2014.
On the north of forecourt is President’s Secretariat and on the south is Cabinet Secretariat.
