New Delhi । Senior Congress leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit passed away today at the Escorts Hospital in Delhi. She was 81.

“Dikshit died at Escorts Hospital here,” Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Jitender Kumar Kochar said.
The three-time Delhi Chief Minister was unwell for some time.
She was active in Politics even at the age of 81, She had lost Lok Sabha Election this from BJP leader Manoj Tiwari.
Sheila Dikshit was the longest serving Chief Minister of Delhi, serving for a period of 15 years from 1998 to 2013. Dikshit led Congress party to three consecutive electoral victories in Delhi. In the December 2013 elections to theDelhi Legislative Assembly, Dikshit was defeated in New Delhi constituency by Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal.
Subsequently, she was sworn in as Governor of Kerala in March 2014, however, she resigned the same year in August. She was appointed as president of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee this year in January.
